Maki Maki

Sushi Restaurant
New York USA

A new 250 square feet handroll sushi take-out counter and eatery shop in midtown Manhattan is fitted with distinct materials and colors to accompany its opening. The cabinets and its ceiling panels are constructed with simple, white oak panels for a memorable, simple, and yet modern space, and other accompanying materials such as concrete and Corian provide for a refreshing and invigorating atmosphere.

The yellow Japanese Noren fabric hung at the opposite end of the store entry, and the ceiling-height mirrors opposite the serving counter allows the space to be felt much larger and stretched. The simple physical and material composition of the store is meant to be easily recognized, and replicated at other store locations.
